The race has a wet start. The first leg of the course goes parallel to the bank until the first buoy where there is a 90 degree right-hand turn to the second buoy. Once around this the course goes on to the third buoy and then on to the finish. The buoys are easy to see with the exception of the first, which is hidden by the bank for half of the first leg.
PRIZES AND GIVE-AWAYS
Medals are awarded to all finishers. Category medals are awarded to the top three finishers.
WATER QUALITY
The water is clean but not clear. It tastes fine but visibility is restricted to about half-a-metre when in the water. A word of advice - do not swim too close to the bank as there tends to be submerged branches that could prove troublesome.
FACILITES
There is ample parking some distance from the race venue. Once at the dam there is grass and trees in abundance making it very attractive for spectators. Due to the large number of competitors the shady areas are at a premium so bring along some form of sun protection. The organisers arrange a number of chalets for change rooms and ablution facilities. Hot meals and other refreshments are on sale.
