| As with all swims at Midmar the water is clean and usually clear. |

| Prizes and Give-Aways: |
| A unique medal depicting a different wild animal is awarded each year. Gold collector's item medals are awarded to all competitors who finish within 60 minutes. Trophies are also awarded to the winners of each category and to the oldest female and male swimmer. |

GPS co-ordinates: 29° 31.100’S 30° 11.200’E
The swim takes place at Camp Thurlow at the Midmar Dam. Take the Underberg/Howick South off-ramp on the N3 and follow the R617 to the entrance at Camp Thurlow. The route is well signposted by the organisers. |
